Sep 19,  · X-pressions is no doubt a great album, but it suffers some of the fates of other "turntablist" albums (including Rob Swift's The Ablist): guest MC's overshadowing the DJ's, lack of scratching, etc. The tracks where the DJ's really cut loose and let it all out with no outside assitance are the tracks that show just how brilliant the X-ecutioners /5(7).

Aug 31,  · referencing X-Pressions, CD, Album, Asphodel this album caused something of a stir when it was first released, being hyped as "the first turntablist album" wether this is true or not I cannot confirm, but the fact of the matter is that this is less of an album /5().

X-pressions is the first full-length release by the relatively new phenomenon of the turntable orchestra. Like the first efforts of other young genres such as trip-hop and drum'n'bass, the album tends to be overlong and lacking in variety.

The X-Ecutioners were formed in the late eighties, they were originally known as the X-Men (taking their name from the Marvel comic mutant super heroes, until they later change their name due to copyright reasons) this was a response to the original DJ Clark Kent and his Superman DJ’s, a rival DJ crew in New York who dominated the New Music.
